Breakfast at Aunt Sara's was excellent
Then off on the Patagonian Express to explore the city of Rio Grande and the surrounding area a bit. But first, we headed to the car workshop 'Post-Venta DS', finally a Peugeot & Service. The guys were very nice, and the service was excellent. For a small amount of money, they made our Peugeot fit again. It had suffered a bit after the many gravel roads.
We got to know a bit of Rio Grande, some monuments from the Falklands War, but as mentioned, nothing special about this city by the Atlantic.
The highlight of today was the visit to Estancia Viamonte. The Goodall family welcomed us warmly and invited us for lunch. The estancia is about 20,000 hectares large, with 2,000 cows and 500 sheep being kept here. The owner of Estancia Viamonte, Mr. Goodall, is the great-grandson of the English-Argentinian missionary Thomas Bridges, who was known for his missionary work among the dying Indian tribes in Tierra del Fuego.Afterwards, we took a little break at the hotel to enjoy dinner tonight at Aunt Sara's, of course. Two large fries, topped with cheese, ham, and two Quilmes beers each for the equivalent of €14.50. Since one can easily exchange dollars at a very good rate in Argentina, the meal only cost us about €10 - a dream for a German, Buenas Noches!
