Oswaldo and Carlos

Today we had a day of rest until 2:30 PM, so there's not much to report....

After a hearty breakfast at the Forjadores Hotel, I took another couple of hours to sleep and read a bit.

In the afternoon, we strolled to the Museo Martin Gusinde, which the director had opened especially for us. Here we were able to gain many interesting insights about the missionary, Navarino Island, and again about the indigenous peoples.

The highlight then in the evening. Carlos Wulff was punctual at 6 PM at the hotel to pick us up for dinner on Oswaldo's sailing ship. Oswaldo, a Chilean who lives in Bielefeld and every year conducts sailing tours from Puerto Williams to Puerto Montt (4 weeks at sea!) during the Patagonian summer with Carlos. Carlos Wulff (his great-grandfather was German) originally comes from Osorno; after his service as a commander in the conflict between Chile and Argentina in 1978, he ended up here in Puerto Williams. Klaus from Euskirchen and Werner from Switzerland will join the two for the long sailing trip on Friday. Captain Oswaldo had 'magically' prepared king crab casserole for us - a dream ! For me, he had a delicious Becker beer ready, which has nothing to do with my uncle Padre, who is famously also named Becker....

After this lovely evening on board, it’s off to bed earlier today, tomorrow we pack, have breakfast, and head to the airport - Goodbye Puerto Williams at the end of the world - Good Night!
