The Australia Wooden Boat Festival: what a stroke of luck that we were in Hobart exactly on that weekend. Also taking place were the Royal Hobart Regatta and the Tasmania Wine Festival. Anyone with the chance to be in Hobart on that weekend: highly recommended!

• Art lovers can fully enjoy Hobart: from the pier, take the ferry MONA ROMA up the Derwent River in 25 minutes to the MONA Museum | Museum of Old and Modern Art. Absolutely impressive yet somehow overwhelming. At first, we were a bit restrained, then enthusiastic - interesting what art can evoke. The photos show some exhibits that moved us the most. Just Google them.
• With the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus through Hobart and get off at the Cascade Brewery for a guided tour and beer tasting. Then have a delicious burger at the adjacent restaurant. And continue on to the Cascades Female Factory and the Botanical Garden.
• Every Saturday, the Salamanca Market takes place along Salamanca Place. Here you can find everything along a kilometer: locally produced goods from jam to whisky, quirky clothing, hats, antiques, and new items – simply wonderful.
• The The Hope & Anchor is the longest-running licensed pub in Australia and the oldest hotel. We met Tom, who showed us the old rooms above the pub. Everything dates back to around 1807 - like a scene from an old movie.
• Located wonderfully centrally at the Somerset on the Pier Hobart right by the harbor.
