Between the lights, between the times, Christmas. Images that resonate.
On December 25th and 26th, on Christmas, we will travel for two days by boat from Laos to Thailand, from Luang Prabang to Houayxay. We will stop at a cave, visit a village, and spend the night on land. We cross the border at the Friendship Bridge to the Thai side, Chiang Kong. Then we take a taxi to Chiang Rai. So much for the facts. https://de.wikipedia.org › wiki › Mekong
The homesickness, the longing for my family flows peacefully with the kilometers on the Mekong. This majestic river, which crosses 6 countries and is over 4000 km long, winds through the mountains of Laos, flowing unpredictably with all its whirlpools and currents. It seems to conceal treacherous cliffs and rocks beneath the surface, and those who navigate it should know it well. Our captain does! There are only a few of us on board, we quickly connect with each other, marveling at the landscape, the changing light, the evaporation of the morning mist, the shifting colors, and the tranquility of gliding along. My thoughts flow with it, streaming through me and opening my senses to the beauty. The sad homesickness transforms into a deep feeling. Love, security, trust - Christmas.
Upon arriving in Chiang Rai, we accidentally booked accommodation 'in the middle of nowhere' - but it turns out to be just right for arriving! From Sabaidi it becomes Swasdi - Hello, Thailand, how are you?
