Farewell from el Masnou

On April 25, 2025, we will depart with LH 1134 at 4:05 PM from FFM to Barcelona.

After preparing our Gustav for travel weeks in advance, we could start the journey with only small hand luggage. 

We arrived at the port of el Masnou around 8:30 PM. Since we hadn't unplugged the cooler during our last departure, we were rewarded with a cold wheat beer. The mood was nonetheless subdued, as we intended to stay a few more days, but once we set sail, we would likely not return to our port in the Mediterranean.

We had both had a long day, so we quickly went to bed, keeping the next few days in mind.

The weather was favorable, not too warm, and we left a donation at Lidl; perishable foods and whatever else we could gather were our spoils.

A final ride through the mountains ending at the port of Premià de Mar, a round in the port of el Masnou, and finally, we had to say goodbye to all our helpers.

Our neighboring boat, the Akka, had meanwhile changed hands. The new owners are significantly younger than us, full of enthusiasm, with the goal of sailing the Akka to Indonesia.

The forecast then indicated a relaxed journey to Blanes on April 27, with a time window following for Palamós. There, we awaited good conditions for crossing the Gulf of Lion.

When I checked our electrical system once more on April 26 and re-plugged the connection at the harbor, suddenly the power went out all over Spain.

Hopefully, no one noticed😊.,

Now we just had to hope that the fuel station would be operational the next day as well. The card machine wasn’t processing the data yet, but we could leave cash at the harbor master’s office, and the desired amount of diesel was then released at the pump.

Meanwhile, we had decided to skip Blanes. We wanted to stop at the harbor restaurant there, but based on the morning's experience, where the bakery only had the bare essentials, it raised the expectation that other businesses could also be affected by the blackout from the previous day. 

Thus, we defined our destination as Palamós.
