During the night, our ship made two short stops in Molde and Kristiansund before it continues in the later morning through Trondheimfjord to Trondheim. The Trondheimfjord (Norwegian Trondheimsfjorden) is the third longest fjord in Norway at 130 kilometers long.

It is located in western Central Norway and stretches with its various arms and branches from Ørland in the west to Steinkjer in the northeast. The city that gives the fjord its name, Trondheim, is located at this fjord, which reaches a depth of 617 meters at its deepest point near Agdenes. The largest islands in the fjord are Ytterøy and Tautra.

The towns of StjørdalLevanger, and Steinkjer lie on the eastern and northern shores of the fjord. In Verdal, the shipyard Aker Verdal builds large production platforms for oil and gas. In Rissa, a shipyard builds cruise ships, including the luxury apartment cruise ship The World.

We explore the beautiful old town with the ancient Gamle- bybrua,

The old town bridge Gamle Bybro (also Gamle Bybrua or Bybroen) of Trondheim spans the river Nidelva. According to history, it is said to bring luck to those who cross it.

Perhaps the hoped-for luck is one reason why the red bridge is one of the most photographed landmarks in the town. Consequently, it is quite challenging to capture the bridge without other people in the shot. Another reason may be the perfect view of the old warehouse district of Trondheim. The old warehouse buildings shine in their colorful hues, especially in sunshine, and are a delight to behold.

The old town bridge was constructed in 1681 as part of the city reconstructions envisioned by Johan Caspar von Cicignon. As the position of Gamle Bybrua was of military importance, the king covered the construction costs. The bridge was completed in 1685. Originally constructed entirely of wood, it was supported on three stone piers. Additionally, an iron railing was placed in the middle of the bridge, which was in place until 1816, and on either side of the bridge, a toll and guard house was constructed.

In 1861, the bridge was modified to its current state by Carl Adolf Dahl.

Now we head to the famous Nidaros Cathedral, Bryggen houses... simply a dream to enjoy all this in the most beautiful sunshine.

The Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim (former name of the city: Nidaros) is one of the most significant churches in Norway, regarded as a national treasure. It has been the cathedral of the Norwegian metropolitan since 1152. Because the shrine of Olaf the Holy stood behind the high altar, the cathedral was also known as the “Heart of Norway”. After the Reformation, it became the cathedral of the Evangelical Lutheran bishops of the Bishopric of Nidaros. Since 2011, it has also served as the seat of the newly created office of the chair of the Norwegian Bishops' Conference.

In the Middle Ages and from 1818 to 1906, the Nidaros Cathedral was the coronation site of the Norwegian kings. Seven kings were crowned and ten were buried here.

To the south of Nidaros Cathedral is the Archbishop's Palace.
