Today, we are leaving the island of Runde. We had a wonderful time here, experienced a lot, enjoyed great weather, and had a fantastic accommodation with a cool host, Arne. Our next accommodation is in Ringebu, a forest cabin above the village of Ringebu. On this route, we will also travel along the scenic route Gamle Strynefjeĺlsvegen, which comes highly recommended.
The Gamle Strynefjellsvegen (Provincial Road Fv 258) is a 27-kilometer-long historic gravel road in Norway. It runs between the towns of Grotli and Videsæter over a barren mountain height of up to 1139 meters. This picturesque mountain pass is one of the official Norwegian scenic routes. The road was painstakingly carved from stone by hand between 1881 and 1894 and is lined with traditional stone walls as well as long rows of white guideposts. Due to heavy snowfall, the route is only passable during the summer months from May to September.
