Bled - a nature and hiking stop
Bled and its surroundings was one of the most beautiful places I've been. This is certainly because it was my first experience of pure nature and hiking after three and a...

Rijeka was highly recommended to me by two other travelers in Bled, and since I had some time to spare and didn't know where to go, I decided to head to Rijeka as well.
I thought, oh yes, I'm going to the coast to enjoy the coastal city and the beach.
However, when I drove into the city, I was very surprised. It didn't look like a cozy coastal town at all. There was industry and cranes everywhere, and the buildings looked quite run-down.
Yet, on the way from the train station to my Airbnb (I found a really cheap place, so I had two nights all to myself, and importantly, it had a washing machine), I passed by some beautiful houses.
On the first evening, I had a very delicious Langos.
The next morning, I first admired the narrow view from my skylight and then set out to explore.
Through the streets, in search of the sea.
The pictures clearly show that the buildings are all somewhat old and run down. Parts of the facades are peeling significantly, or entire sections are missing. Yet, people still live in them.
Somehow, I like the city; it has charm. Everything was calm and pleasant to explore.
And then I finally found the first glimpse of the sea.
Hidden behind a long staircase. And this first staircase would not be my last.
Here I was quite annoyed that I didn't have my swimwear with me. It was nice and warm, and the water wasn't too cold. Well, just dipping my feet in the water had to suffice. And with this small cove, more beaches followed. I had found Rijeka's coast.

Then it was many, many stairs up to the castle. As always, my goal was to enjoy a beautiful view and perhaps catch a glimpse of the sunset. And it was truly worth it!

Happily, I then went down the many steps again and back to my little apartment.
For dinner, I had what I would describe as a crazy colorful pizza.

A wild mix that tasted quite good.
That was Rijeka. The first impression was okay, but the second was much better, and in the end, I found the city really beautiful.
