Plitvice Lakes

From Zagreb, we traveled to Korenica. A small town near the Plitvice Lakes. These lakes are known for their many waterfalls, and of course, we had to take a trip there.

We had inquired beforehand and found out that three possible buses go there, but outside the main season, you can’t be sure if they will run at all.

So we decided to take the first bus in the morning, which was shortly after six o’clock. Thus, we arrived at the park by seven.

That was definitely the right decision because we were the first in the park and could take photos in peace, without other people constantly intruding on the pictures.

4,000 liters per second flow down from the large waterfall at maximum.

Unfortunately, we could only walk a small loop, as all other paths were closed due to flooding. However, even on this loop, the high water level was evident.

But at least this loop included a small boat tour over the lake.

On the way back, the cloud cover had cleared somewhat, and the sun came out, making the colors of the water shine differently.

So if you ever want to visit the Plitvice Lakes, I highly recommend coming right when the park opens. You’ll have peace and can take as much time as you want without any people in your pictures.
