The goal was to see the Plitvice Lakes, and for that, we rented an Airbnb in Korenica. Although this place was quite calm, we managed to find a number of beautiful hiking trails.
Right on the first evening, we took a walk to explore the surrounding area a bit more closely.

On our first full day, we set off in the morning to the Plitvice Lakes, and in the afternoon, we climbed a mountain behind our house.

The path to the summit was so different from all the paths we had taken before. A lot of rocks and heather, but also smaller trees and bushes.
Upon reaching the top at Grad Mrsinj, we had a beautiful view over the valley.

On our last day, we used the final hours to explore the fields. We saw quite a few sheep, beetles, newts, and other animals. We also discovered some funny sitting options that doubled as a bridge over the small stream and a little village behind which lay a hill. Of course, we had to climb that as well to enjoy the view one last time.

So even in small towns where supposedly nothing happens, you can experience a lot. And Croatia has truly surprised me with the sheer presence of mountains everywhere, thus providing numerous opportunities for hiking.
Unfortunately, it was time for our paths to part again. Swantje returned to Zagreb while I continued on my way to southern Croatia.
