Sword Beach & Juno Beach

Sunday trip to Sword Beach and Juno Beach, starting in Ouistreham, where the fish market is just about to close upon our arrival. On June 6, 1944, British and French troops landed at Sword Beach, while primarily Canadian forces landed at Juno Beach. However, we are more interested in a long beach walk to Lion-sur-Mer than the history here. At the beach restaurant, we enjoyed a glass of rosé from Provence along with a portion of freshly caught shrimp. Afterwards, we had a pleasant drive along the coast to Corseulles-sur-Mer. Unfortunately, we didn't have time for a visit to the Juno Beach Center there, but the local bakery was still open: we bought crème slices with Calvados – very delicious!
