Santa Susanna is a locality and coastal municipality in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain, Europe). It belongs to the Maresme comarca (regional capital: Mataró) (and to the subcomarca of l'Alt Maresme) and is part of the judicial district of Arenys de Mar, the judicial party no. 6 of the province of Barcelona; additionally, it is also part of the tourist area of the Costa del Maresme (officially Costa de Barcelona - Maresme).
Santa Susanna is considered by many today as 'the Capital of the Costa del Maresme' for being a significant tourist, family, sports, and leisure destination on the Catalan coast; each year, Santa Susanna welcomes thousands of tourists from around the world attracted by its climate, beaches, commercial and leisure offerings, high-quality hotels (one of which is 5 stars), its exquisite local gastronomy, and also for its proximity to both Pineda de Mar and Malgrat de Mar (two other important tourist destinations on the Costa del Maresme) as well as to Mataró and Barcelona (via the Rodalies de Catalunya trains from Renfe, with Santa Susanna having its own station right on the waterfront). But Santa Susanna is not only about the coast; it also features inland and mountain areas, as it should be noted that the main core of Santa Susanna (the municipal capital) is located inland, facing the national road N-II, and the coastal area is the 'new area' known as the Hotel Zone. Furthermore, Santa Susanna also has several residential urbanizations with towers (the Catalan term for 'chalet'), some as second homes and others as primary residences. For those looking to shop or have a 'shopping' experience, the popular Espais Susanna Shopping Center is located across from the national road N-II, which includes, among many other stores, a Carrefour hypermarket.
As of 2023, it has a population of 3,887 inhabitants and an area of 12.6 km².
The beautiful parish church of Santa Susanna is dedicated to Santa Susanna; it was built in the 16th century and showcases Gothic and Renaissance styles.
