Fuencaliente is a natural spring that has been turned into a public pool with completely free and open access, located to the west of the municipal area of Orce (Huéscar region, province of Granada, Andalusia, Spain, Europe), almost touching the neighboring municipal area of Galera. Its continental-type waters are also thermal and always maintain a constant temperature of around 19ºC throughout the year, which is why it is always open to the public, both in summer and winter. Due to this special thermal microclimate, its waters are cool in summer and warm in winter (hence the name Fuencaliente); interestingly, in winter, since the thermal waters of Fuencaliente are warm while it is extremely cold outside, it is common for steam to rise from the hot water.
The Recreational Area of Fuencaliente de Orce, in addition to the spring-pool itself, also features a barbecue area, a large natural grass area, a beach bar called 'Cañizo' which has its own restaurant, public restrooms with changing facilities, and a large public parking area that is completely free.
As an interesting note, this is not the only Fuencaliente in the Huéscar region, as there is another Public Spring of Fuencaliente in the city of Huéscar; like the one in Orce, it also has continental-type thermal waters with the same constant temperature of 19ºC throughout the year, and it too has completely free and open access (however, the only difference between the two is that the one in Huéscar is larger and more popular than the one in Orce).
