First week in Sri Lanka
We started our trip in Sri Lanka by taking two days of relaxation in Negombo. After that, we went to a town called Sigiriya, where we went on an elephant safari and tomorrow we...

In the city of Sigiriya, we climbed Lions Rock, a large stone 200 meters high, where we could see a beautiful view.
We then moved on to Ella, where we stayed for 4 days. Here we did a hike called Little Adams Peak, where we got yet another great view. On the way up the mountain, we spotted a zipline, which Miriam of course had to try, and Bastian filmed since he thought it was too expensive. (Mr. Scardy Pants) We also hiked for 20 minutes through the jungle 🤥 to see the famous Nine Arch Bridge and watched a train cross it. On the last day, Bastian became terribly sick with fever and dengue, so he just slept in the room while Miriam found the secret waterfall in Ella and encountered a monkey on her way.
After that, we headed to the beach/surf town Mirissa, where Bastian was still deathly sick, so the first few days were spent on easy walks and relaxation. When Bastian got better and stronger again, we went whale watching. On the first trip, we only saw tuna and dolphins, so we booked another trip with the Sri Lankan pirates. On the second trip, we sailed out into deep water, past large container ships, and finally found a pod of orcas that we sailed with for about half an hour. We also got tossed around by wild waves on the boat and later on the beach. We wrapped up Mirissa with a terrible sunburn, but good memories.
Finally, we stayed overnight in the city of Galle, where we visited a rescue center for sea turtles. Here we released 4 hatchlings on the beach while we had to chase away bloodthirsty birds.
