A lot of rain with power outage

Over the past few days, we’ve spent a lot of time splashing around in the ocean and did a bit of exploring in town.

Otherwise, I’ve been reading a lot, since there were occasional rainstorms and thunderstorms that lasted a few hours at a time. Simon worked hard to keep our room dry. The gutter was so rusted through that water was coming in.

Meanwhile, the neighbors also carried out the necessary roof repairs.

The side streets are a bit flooded, and navigating through the puddles is a bit of an obstacle course.

Last night, we drank black tea with ginger and honey by candlelight; it almost had a Christmasy feel to it.

We also worked our way through the regional cuisine; at Bojun Hela Agrarian Uppuveli, you can try lots of small portions for very little money. It’s state-run and the hygiene is monitored.

The Kochi restaurant is also highly recommended. We liked the curry there best of all. The owner kept bringing us more and more little bowls of treats. In the end, we practically rolled halfway home because we were so full.
