Day 6 - Cycling tour, ferry, and hike to Blåvatnet

An indescribably wonderful, physically challenging day ends with a smile on my face. This morning, I set off right after a hearty breakfast with the goal of reaching the ferry 50 km away by 10:05 AM. Initially along the coast, later through a valley (a bit reminiscent of a 'land fjord') - of course, all uphill and downhill.

I reached the ferry with a bit of buffer time and was able to enjoy the view. Ferries, by the way, are free for pedestrians and cyclists; only the motorized travelers have to pay. Once on the other side, it was just a 15 km stretch along the idyllic coast and a small lake until I reached the hiking trail. Clearly a very popular destination - Matteo (from the tourist information) had also told me this in advance, and I completely understand why. The hike was very easy and relaxed my thighs. You could say I took my time a bit. Upon reaching the endpoint, the blue lake, I took an extensive break. I couldn't really take my eyes off the deep blue water. However, since I had to catch the ferry back, I eventually tore myself away.

Upon arriving at the ferry in Svensby, I still had over half an hour to spare, so I treated myself to a coffee and a very delicious cinnamon roll - just the right boost before the return journey! The owner of Zapffe Café, Pierre, moved to Svensby four years ago and has now established himself very well. We had a lovely chat, and it turns out he had lived in Berlin for twelve years. As a farewell, I got myself an (I can hardly bring myself to say this) even more delicious apple-cinnamon muffin… If you're in Tromsø: Definitely take the ferry to Svensby and stop by Pierre on your way to and from the blue lake!

As the ferry set off, it became clear that the valley I had to go through was quite rainy… So, I slipped into my rain gear. All the clothes passed the test. I encountered one or two rain showers, which actually came as a refreshing relief and did not detract from the day at all. On the contrary. It's just so typically Norwegian, and I couldn't help but smile at how quickly the weather changes here.

Today, I had a smile on my lips all day, whether in sunshine or rain. I couldn't stop marveling…
