My faithful companion, the weather forecast app Pent.no (compares two providers), predicted for today that I would have the best chance of a clear summit at Tromsdaltinden (1238m) at 8:00 AM. I have seen this mountain more or less clouded on every single bike tour and hike since it's relatively high. My last project!

So my alarm went off at 3:30 AM. Lovely: the sun greeted me as I left the house. For the last time, I locked my bike to the hiking trail sign in Tromsdalen. And off I went - only uphill. After the mixed forest came a birch grove, which gradually turned into a barren landscape replaced by moss/heather/blueberry-studded fields of rubble. The ascent became really intense (up to 45 degrees incline according to Komoot), the hike was challenging, and a few looks into the abyss earned my utmost respect. But it was just a lot of fun (even crawling on all fours). Unfortunately, I suddenly found myself in the fog, which luckily cleared up somewhat from time to time. Upon reaching the summit, I was probably standing right in a cloud - still a spectacular feeling. Originally, I wanted to wait a bit until the cloud dispersed, but it was too humid and got cold. So I had to head down!

I had to take my shoes off at least five times during this tour to cross streams/rivers. Especially on the way back, crossing was not that easy. The river had a lot of power, and I had to place my feet very firmly (and well) to avoid being swept away.

Throughout the hike, a little bit of melancholy beset me - today was my last day. So I tried to absorb all the impressions like a sponge and store them in my head - the images, the smells, the sounds, the tastes.

By around 10 AM, I was already back home, energized by my start, preparing a big coffee and a delicious breakfast. Davey joined me, and we chatted for quite a while.

Afterwards, I cleaned and packed my bike. It went surprisingly quickly, and everything fit. Now, only the weight needs to be right, but I will check that tomorrow. In the evening, I strolled down to my house beach and enjoyed the high midnight sun around 10 PM. What a successful last day!
