After working in Zurich, a visit to the radio in the courtyard of the National Museum is a must for me at least once in the summer. For those who are not familiar: The National Museum right by the main train station is the most visited cultural history museum in Switzerland, and this slightly castle-like building, along with the modern new wing, provides a pretty beautiful backdrop. The radio itself is essentially a radio festival that has been broadcasting live from the courtyard of the National Museum every summer since 2004, featuring national and international DJs, bars, food stalls, and people simply winding down their summer evenings. From 5 PM onwards, people gather there to enjoy the relaxed end of the summer days, and that was exactly the plan.
The line was quite long, though, and it took a while before we were able to get inside. But well, that's almost part of the experience now.
Once inside, I first waited for my friends Eli and Fabian. Of course, not without a drink in hand and plenty of people watching. The outfits of the people were really something, which made the waiting time fly by.
When the two finally arrived, we indulged and got pizza and a white wine. Unfortunately, this year there were also wasps joining the party for free. None of us had ordered those annoying creatures.
The beats were consistently really good, and at some point, we were just standing right in the middle of the lights.
