Road trip to Attersee
This time, a girls' weekend was on the agenda. The plan was to visit a friend who lives at Attersee. The GPS indicated five and a half hours from Zurich, which sounded manageable...

Today started with a brunch, just like a good day should begin. Right after that, we slathered sunscreen on our skin, filled up the water bottles, and headed towards Mondsee.
Somewhere between Mondsee and Attersee, we left the car and walked on foot up towards the Kienbergerhütte. The view up there was once again absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, the way back was quite slippery, which meant a few of us ended up unintentionally on our backsides.
After getting back down, we went for a swim in Mondsee. And when the suggestion came up to go have ice cream, that was about the quickest unanimous decision of the whole day. An ice cream sundae with fruits and a cinnamon wafer, and with my well-known obsession for cinnamon, it was absolutely amazing for me.
Afterwards, we needed a bit of chill time before we got dressed up for dinner. And that’s when the real fun started. Arriving at the restaurant Das Bräu by the beautiful boutique hotel Aichinger, with a Michelin star and everything, we had to realize that we hadn’t actually made a reservation there. A few villages over, there was a restaurant with a very similar name, and that was where our reservation was located.
At that point, driving to the other restaurant was obviously no longer an option. Our reservation was a thing of the past, and we found ourselves without a table on a Saturday night, which is generally the complete opposite of relaxing.
Somehow, however, we ended up getting lucky. We simply walked down to the main street in Nußdorf am Attersee and found a restaurant that had a table for us more or less right away. After a venison schnitzel with potato salad, we rolled home quite satisfied and thoroughly full.
