USA West Coast Road Trip - Day 5

We wake up around 8:00 AM and pack our backpacks, as today we leave Seattle. On the way to the Alamo car rental, we stop by Pike Place Market one more time, intending to have breakfast in the oldest Starbucks branch, but there are no seats available. Instead, we grab overpriced sandwiches and I get a hot chocolate, then we look for a cozy spot to have breakfast. Next to us sits a couple who speak to us and ask if we are from France. We tell them that we are Germans and starting our West Coast road trip today. Andreas really wants to take a picture at the Gum Wall. I have avoided this “attraction” so far – it’s a wall covered in gum that people have stuck there while waiting to be let into a pub. But since Hatsune Miku was also photographed in front of this wall, Andreas wanted to take a picture too. After that, we head to Alamo – unfortunately, we don't get our Jeep back, but instead receive another nice car – a Nissan Rogue, a small SUV. Andreas carefully steers the car back onto the road and we start our tour headed south. Our stopover and overnight destination is Crescent City, right by the Pacific Ocean. To make progress, we first drive for 5 hours on Interstate 5, then turn right and take Highway 101 along the coast. Around 9:00 PM, we arrive at our accommodation in Crescent City. It is a vacation rental with 3 bedrooms. Andreas drives the entire way alone and goes to sleep immediately. I start a quick load in the washing machine and have to wait for the drying in the dryer, then I can go to sleep as well. Around 2:30 AM, I wake up because a rooster begins to crow. Luckily, it calms down again and only starts crowing again at 6:00 AM.
