1st stage towards Nortorf
Our first little leg over HAJ/HAM to Nortorf…

Published: 25.04.2025

… short "sprint" to the 2nd stage destination at our Tiny House in Rómó.
Driving is like yoga, comfortably at around 90km/h we continue north - such flat land 🤪
We notice the rises, usually invisible to the naked eye, for example, from
11 to 44 m above sea level, they pull like a rubber band on our 1.1t trailer in 5th gear 😬.
Before the border, we quickly fill up the tank, check tire pressure, and continue this sunny drive across the "federal border".
Wide fields as far as the eye can see…
Pastures with unfamiliar inhabitants and numerous huts in a ton shape, and a large wallow - here live pigs, entire groups roaming freely next to fields with sheep herds and in between us, on the straight 401😁
Around noon, we reach the Rómó Dam, which stretches 9.2 km through the Wadden Sea, lined with currents that seem to rise slowly as the water recedes.
We stop at one of the small parking bays and enjoy the view of nature, the Wadden Sea, small shells, plants, and grasses, as well as our freshly brewed MUKKA 😋
Upon arriving on the island, we find our home for the next 2 nights, a simple Tiny House with running cold water, a small terrace, and (almost) everything one might need 🙃 a prelude to the upcoming months 🤓 feeling like a mix of scout camp and campsite 😂😇
Afterward, we explored the beaches (Sónderstrand & Kakolk) and the northern part of the island 😊
