Today we have a trip to Speightstown. The Caboose, a beach bar made out of an old colorful fishing boat and plastic chairs/wooden benches on the sand.

Just a quick note in between. Why do I take the time to always write something here and upload pictures? First, many acquaintances have asked me to do so, and second, here in Barbados, the sun sets daily shortly after 6 PM. So we have time to do this kind of thing. We both don’t want too much action anymore; being in the sun all day is enough, and it really wears you out.

Here in Barbados, there are practically no seasons, just a rainy season and a dry season. The sun rises and sets around the same time almost all year round. The temperatures are almost the same throughout the year, peaking at about 29-31 degrees Celsius and dipping to around 24 degrees.

The sunset here lasts only about half as long as in Germany.

Now back to us.

Last night, we were at Mojo in Bridgetown/Christchurch. A nice pub with live reggae music. There, mostly locals celebrated with rum punch and Banks beer.

The people here are really all very friendly. We have been approached multiple times and have had good conversations.

Today, we found a nice beach on the Caribbean side (Thunder Bay Beach) and went swimming. The Atlantic side is rougher and rather unsuitable for swimming.

We were caught in traffic on the main road and saw several accidents (maybe tourists like us always have trouble with driving on the left). You really have to concentrate hard to avoid going on the wrong side.

In the evening, we then fried our yam tuber and drank the very popular Banks beer, a Caribbean lager beer.
