Return trip (again) with obstacles, bomb threat at the Paris train station

Return from our Caribbean vacation – of course again with obstacles.

First, we did a bit of shopping, and there were noticeably many overweight women.

Then saw the plane at the airport. It can hold a total of 450 !!!!! people. I do not want to fly with Air Caraibes in the future, at least not in the soleil class. The seats are way too close together, the legroom for such a long distance is unbearable, and the service, what can I say, besides the meals, we only got a small drink once in 5 hours.

About three weeks ago, we flew with Condor to Barbados, and we had significantly more space to sit, and the flight attendants were constantly offering something. There was a bottle of water per seat, then cookies, later ice cream, and always drinks. We were in Economy Premium, but it was about the same price as the regular Economy/soleil with Air Caraibes.

The only great thing about the flight were the two cameras on the outside of the plane. One at the top of the tail and one under the plane facing forward. The transmitted images on our monitors were really impressive.

Somehow we endured the 8 hours on the plane. Then from Paris Orly airport with Bolt (similar to taxi or Uber) nearly an hour through rush hour traffic to the Gare de l’est (Eastern train station).

Just before boarding our train, there was a loud commotion in the station. A detained person was being led past. Whistles, shouted instructions. The police evacuated the entire station, and we had to leave the building. Apparently, there was a bomb threat. There were barrier tapes at the entrance on the left and right, so that no one would be injured by a potential pressure wave.

The departure of our train was then postponed several times, at one point completely canceled, then the stop in Stuttgart was omitted, and then, after almost 1 ½ hours, the blockade was lifted, and the train finally left. The train company kept me informed with a total of 8 emails.

We headed towards Stuttgart at speeds of up to 315 km/h. After changing trains, our new train accumulated a delay of 10 minutes until Ansbach – the connecting train was gone, and there was another hour of waiting.

In the end, we arrived home about 3 hours later than planned. We had been on our feet for about 28 hours by then.

All in all, a beautiful but also exhausting vacation. Incredible Caribbean beaches, nature like in the most beautiful botanical garden, broken phone, fine, propeller plane, speed boat, extremely friendly people, reggae music, rum, wonderful exotic food, 4 different islands, 4 apartments, 4 cars, and the temperatures always very warm by our standards.

It will take some time to process all the impressions; there are many pictures and video material.

And the fact that so many of you were interested in our trip and followed along was a total surprise and made us very happy. That was not planned at all. With Vakantio and thousands of travel reports, we are currently ranked 8th among the best travel blogs of 2025, something we never expected.
