From Christchurch over the Arther Pass to the West Coast.

I arrived in Hokitika in bright sunshine, which doesn't seem to always be the case here. I still got a room in a very nice B&B.

Quickly freshen up and go eat something. I followed the recommendation of David, my host, and went to Stumpers.

Large portions for little money.

I chose the chef's recommendation!

Lamb chops with herb crust, vegetables and port wine jus.


A decent portion. They can't do vegetables here at all. They pour tasteless water onto the plate and then put some kind of cheese sauce on top as a garnish... you can easily do without that!

Otherwise done nicely! It was well-done again, not medium. But very tender and flavorful. There are plenty of lambs running around here. There must be something decent among them :-)
