Weinregion Maipu/ Mendoza

We really like it on the premises of our bodega! The weather is also great so we can spend the afternoons in the pool.

We adopted a cat and her baby here at the winery. These two are so cute. As long as we're here, we'll take care of them both. Of course, we first had to google what cats are allowed to eat. As I type here, the mother cat is prancing around me and meowing the entire time :-). Now she's actually laying down on my keyboard. Photo will be attached.

Our bodega is guarded by Rambo. Before I saw Rambo, I thought of a large Argentine mixed breed dog. Hmm, you can see what's hiding behind Rambo in a photo ;-). He's also super clingy, but he pays great attention ;-).

Yesterday we took an Uber to Mendoza. First we looked at Plaza Independencia. It was okay, but there were a noticeable number of people from poor backgrounds staying there. In a bistro where we ate outside, we were asked for money dozens of times by children and adults. Phew, that combined with the heat became exhausting, so we didn't really feel like strolling through Mendoza anymore. What we saw of the city didn't particularly blow me away. Well, Buenos Aires was times more beautiful!

We met Ursula at the winery. The woman is awesome. She is 75 years old, was born in Neuss, but has lived in South Africa since the mid-90s. She travels through South America all alone in her Jeep that has been converted into a camper. She had the car shipped from South Africa and travels around the world with it. A really great personality. We went to a wine tasting with her today. Daniela had picked out a beautiful winery for us that we could visit and also invite us to wine tasting.

The winery made a great visual impression. The outdoor area was very well maintained and had great accents with old wine barrels. There was a food truck in the complex where we got our first cool drinks. The guy had explained to me that I could eat the grapes that were hanging on a pergola above me. What can I say, the little things were super cute and very tasty.

The tour of the winery was very informative. Daniela and Ursula decided to test three wines. Neither of them were thrilled with their selection. But the food was even better :-) After dessert, we leisurely walked back to our winery.

On the way to the pool I met our boss and he told me that there was a storm raging in Buenos Aires so that all flights had been canceled. We quickly got to the topic of climate and he told me that this year he had lost his entire wine and half of his tomato harvest in a storm in just 5 minutes.

Now we're sitting on our roof terrace and there's a thunderstorm raging in the distance, it looks great.
