Strandtag in Renaca

We wanted to extend another night in our great accommodation. Unfortunately it was completely booked. That's why we had to look for a new apartment for our last night in Renaca. New accommodation was quickly found. We had entered the address into Maps and "Ilse" said "the destination is on the right side." But there was nothing on the right side. So we checked the addresses again and lo and behold, we had to drive down the street. This time we also had a large apartment building on the right. Daniela went in there beaming with joy and came out very sad. "No aqui" - it's not here. She was sent on the road from Pontius to Pilate and tried eight different building complexes without success. She came into the car and said to me "Anke, are you okay"? Yes... Why... You're not getting upset at all! I had to laugh because Daniela's running back and forth just looked too funny. Like in a comic film. We then drove again to the first address and there the destination wasn't on the right but rather further up the left on the page :-). After checking in, we went straight to the beach and observed several seals up close on a rock. We spent the rest of the day completely relaxing on the beach.

The next morning we continued. We wanted to go to Los Andes, a small mountain village, and stay overnight in cute accommodation. The journey there alone was a dream. I had entered avoid motorways and we drove through dozens of small mountain villages. The landscape changed from lush green to barren and dry. We stopped at countless places and marveled at the mountain scenery. But I also always found the small villages with the locals great. They sold fruit and vegetables on the street.

We arrived at the accommodation in the afternoon and what can I say. It was by far the best accommodation we have ever had. The owners are a pair of siblings who inherited the former customs house on the border with Argentina from their grandmother. The customs station was in operation from around 1700 to 1910. It was then moved further up into the mountains as the road was built. Now 10 dogs, 5 cats and 5 horses live there. The property was gorgeous. They have tons of different fruit trees and a fantastic vegetable garden. My highlight was the natural pool, which is filled with ice-cold water from the adjacent river. When I went in there, it reminded me of bars, my toes literally cramped. But since it was almost 40 degrees outside, I bravely swam my laps. When I was recovering from my swimming training on a lounger...lol...a huge dog jumped on me and didn't want to get off me at all. The owner said that once they love you, they won't leave you anymore. Yip, she didn't want to leave me anymore either :-), Daniela literally had to lure her away. Afterwards we walked through the garden and harvested tons of things and immediately cleaned them up. The grapes and also the walnuts were so delicious.

The next highlight follows in the evening. A four-course menu consisting of a Pisco Sour, a super delicious salad, a great main course and an even tastier dessert :-) Dessert. We were both so excited and so full. I'm still full - a day later - :-). By the way, poor Daniela had to drink both Pisco Sours because I can't tolerate alcohol, hmmm... But Daniela didn't have TWO Pisco Sours either. Further details will not be given here at this time. It was still a very fun evening :-).
