Valparaiso

Today we took the public bus from Vina del Mar to Valparaiso. The trip was an absolute experience. The bus driver reminded me of one of the tank busters from Duckburg :-). The buses are relatively small, totally vintage and extremely dirty. The drive to Valparaiso took about 45 minutes. Anyone who didn't jump to a free seat quickly enough after paying for their ticket literally flew through the bus. The driver was driving so fast that you even slipped off your seat in the curves.

Otherwise the drive was very nice, especially since we first drove through Renaca, a suburb of Vina del Mar. The small suburb seemed quite inviting. Vina del Mar, in contrast, is much larger and relatively full of people. But Valparaiso has it all, it's huge and incredibly dirty.

We got off at our stop and were totally tense. We expected an attack at any moment, all because of the negative articles we had read online about Valparaiso.

We then walked to the first tourist attraction and more and more people came towards us. The tension then melted away. There is a lot of street art in Valparaiso and we walked down the individual streets and were totally amazed by the colorful houses. The murals were so impressive. Sometimes you didn't even know where to look first. It was super cool. After countless photos and endless kilometers through the individual streets, I first had a huge ice cream. Afterwards I was willing to continue running again :-).

In the afternoon we took a bus back. The bus driver's driving style was better, but unfortunately it took almost twice as long as the outward journey. There were traffic jams everywhere, which was annoying, especially in the old bus without air conditioning :-(.

We got kicked out on the beach. There we first hit the sand and relaxed. We were able to watch a pelican dart into the water at speed numerous times to catch fish.

Shortly before sunset we walked up to the apartment. Here we are enjoying the evening and looking forward to tomorrow. We'll just spend this time on the beach and chilling!
