San Carlos de Bariloche

The flight to Bariloche went without any special incidents. Bariloche is said to be the Argentine Switzerland. The pictures and preliminary reports were promising.

Our plan was to relax by the lake for a few days and explore Argentine Switzerland in shorts, t-shirts and flip flops.

Yes, as so often in life, things turn out differently than planned!!!

As it was approaching Bariloche, the aircraft was hit by strong gusts of wind and shook violently. We later found out that there was a storm warning for the next few days! So, it was no summer look, open your suitcase and put your warm clothes back on. The storm was really strong and the air was pretty fresh, holla the forest fairy. All excursion destinations were also closed, so the stay was much quieter than planned.

As soon as the sun came out, we left the hotel and strolled through the town. Of all the cities so far, I liked Bariloche the least. I lacked charm. There are 3 houses in the "Swiss" style, but that's about it. The Bariloche region is best known for its lake landscape and, unfortunately, for the Nazis who settled here after the Second World War and were sometimes never held accountable for their crimes.

We spent the free time planning our further trip. From Bariloche we were “actually” supposed to go straight across to Chile. However, since the weather forecast for this region was similarly poor, we changed our plans at short notice and flew further to the warm north: to MENDOZA!!!

Mendoza is a beautiful wine region in Argentina and it's actually still summer there!!!

Today we arrived safely in Mendoza. We live on a winery. We are currently sitting on our large roof terrace and can overlook the winery. Really fantastic.. :-). But what really counts right now... are the flip flops on our feet :-)!
