28.9. Encounter with a Porcupine

Published: 29.09.2019

On our trip to Gaspe, we take a little detour to a lake deep in the forest. An idyllic area.

We pass by a little cabin where you can get permits for hunting and fishing. Immediately, our hope to encounter a moose resurfaces. Unfortunately, the hunter with bow and arrow (seriously!) was faster and proudly shows us his hunting success.

When we arrive in Perce, at the 88m high and 438m long limestone rock formation Rocher Perce, it starts to rain lightly. During low tide, you can walk to this rock in the water.

We stroll through the very touristy town with lots of souvenir shops.

Arriving in Gaspe in the afternoon, our room at the Hotel Baker is not ready yet. So we continue to the Forillon National Park. The clouds hang low in the mountains.

Something black appears on the side of the road ahead of us, which turns out to be a porcupine. It doesn't let us disturb its eating, but raises its quills as a warning.

The Hotel Baker offers a great view of the bay. The rooms are spacious and the restaurant offers very tasty fish dishes. However, there is room for improvement in the service.
