Ålesund - like food that tastes interesting
Ålesund in all its glory

Published: 27.08.2025

Morning hour has gold in its mouth, they say. In my world, that’s not really the case. But this morning I was up early. Günni was too. Since it was absolutely fine on the asphalt parking lot but nothing holds us back here anymore, we are on our way quite early today.

The Geirangerfjord is calling us and I’m excited about the fantastic weather, the music, the beautiful route, and I’m just in a good mood.
Günter quickly steers towards a wonderful parking spot and we decide to have breakfast with a fabulous view. I would love to have it like this in the future 😄 As it’s not far from Ålesund to Geiranger, we take our time and fortunately finish just as the first tour bus arrives at the parking lot. This means for us: Quickly move on 😉

And once again today, what a nice drive. An incredibly beautiful landscape with a short ferry ride in between. I just can’t get enough of all this beauty.

We have picked a campsite that is not directly in the village, but about 2 km away. We can perfectly see the fjord and the town from our spot and can directly spot the mighty Aida lying there.

In a typical tourist manner, we have booked a fjord trip for this afternoon. Once to Hellesylt and back again. So, we quickly ran to the village and then I get to admire the truly beautiful fjord.

In Hellesylt, we only have about 20 minutes and unfortunately can't look around much, as that would be something for the thought list, because it’s clear that I would love to see the Geirangerfjord with snow caps on the mountains again. Due to the melting of the snow already being over, the waterfalls are not as pronounced. Still beautiful, however, the internet says they are even more impressive in spring.

In any case: I am thrilled and happy. The hype around this fjord is definitely justified. Tomorrow we will do the waterfall hike and I really can’t wish for more. Since I find it so hard to decide among all the photos today, here are just a lot of pictures.
Ah Norway! I keep falling in love with you. With this cheesy ending, we let the day wind down. Good night ♥️
