Nigardsbreen - the eternal (?) ice
After our rather calm day yesterday, today should offer another small highlight of our journey: a visit to a glacier. The Jostedalsbreen and its associated glacier tongue...

I'm a bit late with the writing, as I am catching up on yesterday's travel day this morning. We drove further inland from Kjørnes, with our destination for today being the Telemark, specifically the Sandviken Campsite.
To avoid driving through the Laerdal Tunnel again (it does get boring at some point), we've decided to take a slightly slower route. We're making a detour to Borgund, where we want to visit the Stave Church.

In another tunnel, I'm pleased about the practicality of Norwegians. The tunnel is likely being renovated but is still passable. And hey, if the ceiling light still doesn’t work, we’ll just use fairy lights and hang them up. It looks nice and provides the necessary lighting. As far as I'm concerned, that could be the standard ☺️

The day is already forecasted as rainy on the local weather app. The better, because those are the best travel days. However, we have never experienced it so wet and especially foggy. Do you remember the scene from Forrest Gump where he describes all the types of rain he experienced in Vietnam? That was kind of our experience yesterday 😄 light drizzle, misty rain, fat heavy drops coming from the left side, straight down, from the right side. In short, we had it all.

Pictures were difficult, but I managed to capture the mood with a few.
It got exciting on the mountain and the plateau when the fog was so thick that we felt like we were driving into nowhere at around 20 km/h. I was somewhat relieved when we went downhill again and could see something.

With a Pølse stop, the travel day is perfect, and we are doing well. Actually, we know a good part of the route; the last time we arrived here in brilliant sunshine. I think both atmospheres have their charm.

Arriving at the campsite, we look for a spot for our camper that isn't too soaked. Then the evening program starts: pizza at the campsite reception house and movie night in the camper. James Bond driving along the Atlantic Road. It doesn’t get much better 😄

It’s late when we snuggle up and go to sleep. The rain is relentless and patters us to sleep. It only occurred to me this morning that I completely forgot to write.
So I quickly caught up today, and now let’s see what today brings us. At least it has stopped raining for now.
