The Last Days - Austbygda and Larvik

Now the time has completely flown by.

Yesterday we still had a day at the campsite in Telemark. We only explored the place a bit, bought a few things at the supermarket, and tidied up since we wanted to continue to Larvik today. So, no spectacular day, hence a blog post for both days.

We cooked nicely yesterday, ate in peace, and planned our route for today. It was still rainy and gloomy, so it was rather relaxed as there was no major hike in store. Last time we had Gaustatoppen, one of the highest mountains in the region. We considered going there again, but decided against it due to the weather. After 3 weeks here, we have also returned to the Norwegian calm: it is just how it is ☺️

And this morning, as if Norway wanted to make our farewell difficult, the sun comes out again. Almost the whole day we have good weather except for a few brief showers, and we enjoy the view as always.

What we didn’t even notice during our planning is that we would pass through Heddal. So we quickly made a stop to admire the largest stave church. It is still actively used for special services. Quite cool.

Despite it being a Thursday morning, it is quite crowded (bus tour, do I need to say more?), so we limit ourselves to viewing it from the outside and don’t stay long. But it’s still nice that we could unexpectedly include this on our travel day.

On our way to Larvik, we pass through many small but really beautiful towns. However, since Günni is worried that we won't find a parking spot, we don’t stop anymore. Aiming for our destination, off we go 😁

However, we are lucky and there is still quite a lot of space left. Since this is the only parking space and it is only 3 km from the ferry terminal and quite small, we can be really happy that we can set up well here.

So we explore this little town a bit and behold, it is really nice here and makes for another lovely final day.

We find an incredibly delicious burger place and enjoy it while wandering around one of the two small shopping centers before and after. Seeing the Norwegian home decor stores here makes me want to redo everything at home and furnish it in Scandinavian style. They really have a knack for this hygge and koselig.

But Günni rightly taps me on the fingers, and we meander a little through the streets back to our parking spot along the harbor. It is peaceful and picturesque, relaxed, and the Larvikfjord right outside the door adds to the ambiance.

We are both slowly looking forward to going home, no question about it. But at the same time, it’s really a pity that time passed so quickly and is already over...but we are still not at the end yet. Tomorrow morning we’ll catch the ferry and then another stopover in Eckernförde. So two more days to enjoy 😊

And now everything is being prepared here so that we don’t miss our ferry at 8:00 am tomorrow. Good night 🌙
