Hairy Feet - LOTR

The post is probably more for the nerds among us, as I went on a trip with the gang to the Hairy Feet Tour. A private piece of land that was used for some commercials and films. Particularly of course for THE HOBBIT. 

Even though many of the pictures here reflect scenes, they are also simply beautiful as the place is great and it is a really lovely valley near the Waitomo Caves. 

We definitely had a lot of fun and fully embraced our nerdiness. 

The wonderful rock formation in the background of the pictures is also set up for sport climbing routes, but after a change in the law, the family no longer allows climbers on the property. It's really a shame, but understandable. It's truly unfortunate that the government has taken this route and there are many such wonderful areas that can unfortunately no longer be climbed. However, since I was completely distracted by role-playing and interesting facts about the filming days here, I only felt a slight itch in my fingers.

We reenacted many of the scenes and really had a fantastic day, especially thanks to our tour guide Suzie. She was present during the filming and could share many funny anecdotes with us. Also super interesting how filming looked when a complete set was not built from the ground up and then maintained. 

At the end of the trip, we all went to a café for lunch and afterwards had ice cream, drove home, and let the day wind down in peace. 

It was a successful day with the gang where I learned a lot, and we all brought out our inner actress.
