After a year’s break, we are back on the road.

This time again near, but no less beautiful.

We managed to skip the hot weather ‘a bit’ and only ride in 30 degrees Celsius. We first drove by car to Rolle. There, we used an SBB Park and Ride and then set off.

The wind came sometimes from the front, sometimes from the back. When it’s uphill, that doesn’t really matter.

For this, we could ride through beautiful vineyards. Once, we had to bypass a lovely village instead of going through it, as there were too many cars. The risk was too great. So, we drove back to the route. This was because it had a pass-like road leading to the next town, but indeed: too many cars. Back on the official route, everything was fine again, even though I wanted to gain a few altitude meters. Sweating was a given anyway, so a few additional (sweat) beads didn’t matter.

Upon arriving in Geneva, we had lunch in a cemetery. It was very quiet ;) Bread, cheese, salami, and cucumber. That’s all happiness needs.

Afterward, we rode through Geneva, which was surprisingly good for riding. Although sometimes I didn’t find the bike path and had to perform creative pedestrian maneuvers. Sorry to my father-in-law Urs. He managed it all magnificently and went along with my antics.

Until the campsite, the route was sweat-inducing as it kept going uphill. At one point, I had to cool my head in a fountain.

Upon arriving at the TCS campsite, I had to resolve the reservation disaster. During that time, Urs got the cool drink (beer), so I didn’t really care. Afterwards, we treated ourselves to an ice cream and could then strengthen ourselves to set up the tent.

Meanwhile, a thunderstorm had developed, and I bought some food and drink supplies at Coop.

After the shopping, it was sunny and hot again, so a swim in the lake was a must. (Previously, I had already showered twice)

Afterward, we prepared dinner. Hörnli with tomato-tuna sauce and a salad beforehand. And a bit of wine with it. And a beer for thirst.

Then we were even thirstier, and after the dishes, that thirst needed to be quenched again.

Now it’s time to sleep, and hopefully, it will be a bit cooler tomorrow. As I write this, it’s still 25 degrees. So cozy warm… good night.
