thonon l. bains - evian - lausanne
this morning, not quite as early as we thought, we set off at a leisurely pace. the start was quite challenging. barely underway, we were heading up the hill. once, twice, and...

the night was once again a bit restless. this was not because of camping, but rather due to the school classes. back in my day, teachers would send the children to bed at 10 or 11 in the evening, and sometimes a teacher would stay up to keep watch. that was how it was during my time in ski/cadet or holiday camps. fortunately, there are those earplugs with music that make it less bothersome. though in the morning, the ear hurts a bit from lying on it.
nevertheless, we agreed to get up at 7 o'clock and fold up the tents. unfortunately, this was the last time for this year.
what all campers (meaning without luxury and such) know about is the subject of toilets and their cleaning. unfortunately, the timing this morning was not perfectly coordinated for that. but fortunately, there was another facility available, and we still managed to finish our journey on time.
the trip went through lausanne. it's worth mentioning that a lot has been done for cyclists. most of the time, we were on a sidewalk and could ride in our own lane.
since there was construction on the designated path, we took a small detour from the route. but it wasn’t too bad. thanks to the navigation and google maps, one can always find a way!
after an hour, we caught up with our breakfast, which included bread, cheese, and a little Berliner along with some coffee.
there were still a few sweaty climbs to tackle. for that, we were rewarded at the top with a cool fountain head bath. although it was only 28 °C, the high humidity still made it 'sticky'. for this, I bought a little towel a couple of days ago, which I actually got for spain (where it’s hot/wasn't really). I saw some climbers using such a towel and found it rather amusing to watch. but it is surprisingly practical since it keeps the sweat out of one's eyes, which is also not so pleasant ;-).
a little after 11 o'clock, we arrived at the car. bicycles loaded, changed clothes, and headed back home. there we were welcomed with delicious wraps (and our little salad made from leftovers).
thank you for reading, and hopefully until soon in the real world!
best regards, marcel and urs
