Gedser

On our last day in Denmark, we stop in Gedser, and tomorrow we will take the ferry back to Germany. There, we will then enjoy 5 days in Rostock and Warnemünde for the Hanse Sail. We have reserved a parking space in Markgrafenheide.

Gedser is a small, quiet place at the southern tip of Denmark and is mainly known as a ferry port for the crossing to and from Rostock. We are parked at the marina parking area. The parking space is adequate; there is electricity and a sanitary building with toilets and showers, for which a chip card is required that can be obtained from a vending machine and loaded with money. The parking fee is also paid at the vending machine. Any unused money is easily refunded by the machine upon card return. The sanitary facilities were clean, and we cannot confirm the partly negative reviews from the internet. There is also a restaurant for dinner just around the corner. Electricity is included; we paid a total of nearly 30 euros for the night.

I must mention an absolute must for railway fans and friends of the Olsen Gang. There is a museum of a special kind in Gedser, the Remise. Here, you can admire many old locomotives and see 'Det Gule Palae', the famous signal box from 'The Olsen Gang Puts the Train on Track'. Since we also followed in the footsteps of the Olsen Gang on our tour, this was a must!
