We made a stop on our way to the east coast of Spain in the city of Pau, which has 80,000 inhabitants, located at the foot of the Pyrenees. I had never heard of this place before. We are pleased to have discovered this hidden gem! The town center is perched on a rock, with a promenade called 'Boulevard des Pyrénées' that truly lives up to its name. Over the stretch of a few hundred meters, you can enjoy a stunning 180-degree view of the Pyrenees, which is hard to capture in a photo. The buildings in the town are well-preserved and cared for, with very few modern architectural blunders. I feel a bit silly describing how many cafés, bars, and restaurants sweeten the visit in French cities. There is life everywhere. This time we are staying in a vacation rental, a modern loft overlooking a park.
