Laredo

We are in Laredo, a holiday resort on the northern coast of Spain situated between Santander and Bilbao. We are here to continue benefiting from the lower pollen levels by the sea, which is great for Marina. In this area, the sins of the building boom from 2001 to 2008 are also present. 4 million 'homes' were built in Spain at that time, but unfortunately, they were not intended as primary residences, but rather as second homes and speculative investments, anticipating a high profit from resale or rental. The result is a gigantic patchwork of scattered faceless satellite settlements, which today can only be partly used as primary residences. I will not post corresponding images. If only it could be undone. The photos in this post are from a nearby nature reserve, so nature has survived! The campsite we are at is mainly used by Spaniards for their holidays. We really enjoy getting to know Spanish people and their mentality.
