From Wardsia, we now head to the Goderzi Pass. Stopover: Akhaltsikhe (Cheers!)

Here we are particularly interested in the castle, so we park Gregor at the bus station, get some more Laris from the ATM since we are a bit short on cash, and then stroll towards the Castle.

And what can I say: It is one of the most impressive castles I have ever visited in my life. On one hand, it was lovingly renovated in 2011 (you can really climb up to every single tower via a spiral staircase or wander along all the battlements), on the other hand, one is absolutely fascinated by the buildings influenced by different religions.

There is a mosque next to an Orthodox church, a synagogue next to a historical museum. And then the main castle called Lomsia (Lion) reigns in the center.

It is my second absolute recommendation for a trip to Georgia after Wardsia!

Oh and we were lucky, 5 young ladies in beautiful traditional costumes visited the castle at the same time. Unfortunately, I did not ask them which costumes they were, but I did manage to get a selfie 😎😃

After a very good cocktail in the hotel located within the castle, we arrive safely at Hotel Arsiani at the Goderzi Pass, eat typical Georgian food again, and enjoy the evening sun and breathtaking view from our room.
