Day 2

On Day 2, our group was received by the District Office of Oświęcim (Auschwitz). After an introduction round, we received information on the topic of the refugee situation in the Lesser Poland region. Most refugees have fled from Ukraine to Lesser Poland. An important topic for our hosts is the living and working situation of Ukrainians in their country. As a bonus, we are provided with fantastic culinary catering and small souvenirs as keepsakes.

After the visit to the District Office, we visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial.

There, we took a tour of the vast grounds, starting with the main camp, and later the Birkenau camp.

After the tour was over, each participant in the group took time for themselves to process the experiences and impressions.

We ended the evening in a lovely restaurant on the terrace with a view of the Sola River.
