Final Sprint

We leave the hotel fully motivated. The bike path mainly runs through fields between the villages. It rained once more, but I think that was the last time ☺️. Robi confidently guides us through Udine. From here, we are allowed to feel the sun. A beautiful city with many impressive buildings. We enjoy them as we pass by because we have a long stage ahead today. In between, a short break at a small village Osteria. It’s Sunday and there’s quite a bit happening. You can feel the Italian vibe. I really like that. My butt already hurt quite a bit, but there’s no help for it; we still have the next 45 km to ride.

And at some point, before heading onto the dam to Grado, the long-awaited sea. Yippie, we made it 🙌. Team Boecher has reached the destination. We quickly ride to the beach to take a photo to Robi's liking. Lots and lots of people, but thankfully I had already mentally prepared myself 😁. After showering, yes hardly believable, we get back on the bike and visit Aischa and family. It’s pure coincidence that they are here at a campsite, but we already knew about it back home. The two little ones didn’t know we were coming. Suddenly we were there. Zoe was really happy. For Mailo, it was somehow completely normal. 😅 He first showed us the car he was holding.

It was a very nice evening. They have a pitch with a great location right by the sea. The drive back to the hotel, again over the 5 km long dam, was incredible. In the moonlight, you could see birds standing in the lagoon, and on the horizon, the lights of the surrounding towns, while looking up revealed a beautiful moon.

Thank you for this eventful tour even though the weather didn’t cooperate completely. Thank you, Robi, for your company and many thanks for the overnight stays with Melanie and Farina.
