After a hearty breakfast, we walk into the town center of Vrachati. The view along the way is quite an adjustment for our eyes. There is quite a bit of litter along the roadsides, and we see lots of fallow land and abandoned houses. Unfortunately, there are also fences around, so we cannot pick the oranges that are rotting on the ground and ripening on the trees... what a pity, as we can already taste them in our mouths. We were told that there is a bakery in town, so we set out to find it. We reach the main road and are met with total traffic chaos. Vehicles park in impossible places, other road users honk and curse... but we will have to get used to that.
In search of the bakery, we accidentally find a small store that seems to have everything. We need a battery for our alarm system activation stick. We go in and ask if the gentleman has the right battery, but unfortunately, we still have a problem: we do not have a small screwdriver. No problem... he fetches the right battery from the shelf, unscrews the remote, puts the battery in, screws it back together, and voilà... everything is functional again. We are very happy, and for 3 euros, you really can't complain.
At the bakery, we find a “treat in the afternoon,” but unfortunately no bread. Just around the corner, we see a great bakery and buy some bread... great, the day is going well. We stroll back to the camper, prepare everything for departure, and off we go to the camper stop in Ancient Corinth. The drive is a little tricky... a very sharp, narrow right turn and steeply up in 1st gear... and we find ourselves directly at the camper stop Ancient Corinth, just 600 meters from Ancient Corinth. The place is small but really charming. The sanitary facilities are... let's say... a bit dated and in need of renovation. We are assigned a spot right away, and the friendly owner explains everything to us. Waste and water disposal, and we can also book a dinner... camper van dinner... options were sea bream with fries and Greek salad or souvlaki. We chose 2 sea breams, which were really delicious. A laundry service came, and we could simply hand over our laundry bag... the next day, we got everything folded and sorted back... 15 euros... well, you really can't complain, and we are all fresh again... what is washed is just washed 😁.
After the delicious dinner, we head back towards Ancient Corinth to get an impression by night; it already looked amazing during the day... we did not expect that. Upon arrival, it feels like an old modern village with adjacent excavation sites that can be visited for 6 euros. We will do that if it’s not raining... yes, it rains even when we are out and about... it's rare, but it happens.
We will enjoy the place for a few days as we need to kill some time... package pickup in Athens is still pending.
Night calls, and we watch some YouTube – thanks to Starlink and electricity at the campsite.
