Sissi and the Harbor

Yes, Christmas is slowly approaching, and I realize that I want to have battery-operated Christmas stars. I search for them, find them, and wanted to activate them... unfortunately, one star is defective, and I will have to try to glue it again. Fingers crossed.

Freddy is still editing a film, and I'm writing in the notebook... but honestly... the sun is shining at 17 degrees Celsius... so we'd rather go outside... we can sit inside when it gets dark. So, let's wash the dishes, tidy up, and head outside, and what else are we doing... of course, charging the batteries... that’s what the sun is for, and having is better than needing...

We walk to the city and first look for a supermarket to buy some groceries... but the first one is already closed. We pass a church towards the harbor, and lo and behold... a nondescript supermarket is open, and we note to return there on the way back.

Continuing towards the harbor, I must say... the little cute harbor is really charming. The streets leading to the harbor are narrow and truly idyllic... a lovely place with small shops... okay, almost everything is closed BUT the bakery is open, and that’s great. We need to check it out on the way back... sweets... delicious.

We are really taken with the harbor. The sun is shining, the little boats are gently bobbing on the water, a fisherman is working on and sorting his nets... yes, this can continue. We enjoy the view towards the harbor entrance and let our thoughts roam free for a moment.

Then, of course, the bakery calls. Upon arrival, there are many delicious items on display, and one looks sweeter than the next... okay, we've made our choice, we take some dry cookies with us, and off we go to the supermarket. Since we don't want to stay long at the parking spot, we only buy water and carry a 6-pack to the car... okay, Freddy carries the 6-pack to the car. Clear everything away, and then... coffee and cake... delicious.

It gets dark again faster than you think, and we enjoy the evening with rice and a strange Cevapcici... well.. it’s okay... but it’s not a must.

December 20, 2024

The morning starts sunny, and after breakfast, Freddy and I decide to jump into the water... wow, that was cold. Freddy is the type to jump in without waiting... I'm more of the type who splashes a bit on the upper body and dampens the arms. But then when a wave comes, and the water splashes right in the crotch... no, that’s not nice.

After the saltwater, we can use the not so cold showers at the beach... really great, and the saltwater cleanses the skin.

Stefan, our neighbor, comes by and asks us if we want to drop by in the evening for mulled wine... I had to raise an eyebrow... mulled wine in summer at 20 degrees? That’s just wrong... but still.. Marion and Stefan are really nice, and we agree.

The homemade pizza at Nonna Aurelia takes longer than expected, I burn my fingers again as I didn’t think about the fact that the metal between the layers gets hot too... eventually, I will remember that. Meanwhile, I realize that the kitchen in the camper is too small for this. Take off the lid and put it somewhere it won’t burn. Remove the top dish and place it somewhere fireproof, and then the mentioned frame... and then take out the bottom dish and pack it above... so to speak, “Nonna Aurelia Tetris”.

The pizza tastes really good with tuna and capers... without onions since I forgot them... but it worked out fine. There’s a knock, and we are picked up... unfortunately, we had to eat some more and arrive a bit later... but that’s okay.

Erik and Vanessa are also here, and the gathering is really fun. The mulled wine from Marion and Stefan tastes really good, and I drink half a cup twice. Freddy doesn’t drink... he doesn’t have to.
