Palamidi Fortress
Freddy hands me the phone and the camera and runs off... I follow slowly and leisurely. I know the way... always towards the water and to the port. Once there, I see Freddy...

We continue on to charge the battery a bit more at the next nicer campsite. The first campsite is nice, but already occupied by vehicles, and we don't want to park in between...the expressions on a couple's faces already hinted at that...let's get out of here. I greeted them politely with a nod, and in return, I received an angry, icy glare that fortunately didn't freeze me in place. Quick exit. The first small gravel incline wasn't easy at all. The wheels spun a bit...but Rex wouldn't be Rex if he couldn't handle it. We continue on the main road, and at some point, the Syngic GPS tells us to turn around...after 15 km...somehow strange, but we must turn back as we aren't allowed to cross over a bridge there. However, after a few km, we find a super beautiful spot by the water at Paleochoras Beach just past the town of Astros. Delightfully quiet.
We take a short walk to the section of the beach where camping isn't permitted and see a building ruin and a sort of mine...rusty steel...that's totally my thing. It gets dark, and we spend a wonderfully quiet night. A police vehicle passes by a few times, so we didn't have to worry about being asked to leave the spot.
