After Bali we went to the next island in Indonesia, Gili Trawangan. Known as the party island of Indonesia and exactly what we needed, a bit of action. We then of course checked into a party hostel for the next 3 nights. When we arrived on the island by boat we were very surprised that there were no cars here and that the only way to get around was with ponies and bicycles. We then walked into the hostel and were greeted with a pool party. After a quick shower and a bit of chilling we went to the bar. This gave us the motivation to really party again. It wasn't long before the night turned into day. We danced all night from beach club to beach club and went for a quick swim every now and then. At 4 a.m. after the best falafel wrap and chips we went to bed. The next day was a more relaxed approach and we looked for a nice café for breakfast. Then we got our bikes and cycled around the island. We passed some nice beaches and lots of bars. We then chose a cozy beach and spent the rest of the afternoon there reading and playing Uno. In the evening we went to bed early so that we would be in top shape for the next day. The next day started pretty early for us because we had planned a snorkeling tour. Neither of us were really that excited but thought that was just the lack of sleep we had had in the last few days. But when we met our group for the tour at the harbor or actually just saw them, we both knew why we weren't so excited. But no matter, we thought we'd have our own fun. But even before our first snorkeling stop, our mood was pretty low. The trigger for this was that I whispered something quietly to Antonia and our tour guide was very disturbed by it and just slapped me on the shoulder and had to say "Shut up". Then the next snorkeling spots weren't really that exciting either but at least there's another travel story that I probably won't forget anytime soon. In the evening we wanted to party again, but this time we were both so exhausted that by 12 we were just looking forward to our bed. Even though a lot of people rave about the Gili Islands, they are not my favorite place in Indonesia. After 3 nights we moved on to the next Indonesian island. 🫶🏼
