Bali - Sidemen

已发表: 17.02.2024

Hello everyone,

I know it's been a few days now, but I'm sitting in my bunker right now and after some pretty exciting days I have the time to give you some quiet updates.

In my last post I was in the trendy Ubud district. I've often told you about this great vegan buffet in this neighborhood. The evening before my onward journey to Sidemen, I ate again in this fantastic restaurant with two other women and simply cheekily asked if they could use some help cooking the next morning. And to my delight they were able to do that and so I got up early, ate a delicious fruit platter and walked to 9 Lifes 9 Bamboo again. For the next 2 hours I chopped up some vegetables and was able to watch the tempeh being cooked. Overall, unfortunately, I didn't learn quite as much as I would have liked. But I took advantage of the time and simply had a second breakfast. Maybe there will be another opportunity to take a more specific cooking course. I am excited.

After I got back to the hostel, I gathered my seven (thirty thousand) things and booked a GoJek to my next stop - Sidemen.

The journey there took quite some time, as the traffic in Bali is really tough and it can happen that there is a delay of up to 1 hour. The further we got to Sidemen, the better the traffic got.
In my new homestay I rented a scooter for 24 hours and drove to a fairly remote waterfall. In this area I dared to actually ride a scooter myself, as there isn't that much traffic here and the road conditions are also pretty good.

Said driven! A good 25 minutes later and a few exciting scooter kilometers later, I parked the scooter. Unfortunately, I didn't fully understand how the luggage compartment opened, but luckily a nice young man drove by at that moment who was able to help me.

Air Terjun Jagasatru - Hindu prayer place

Right at the beginning of the valley there is an oversized Hindu statue, but you can only take a closer look at it with the right clothing. Luckily I didn't even need my glasses from a distance.

So then towards the waterfall:

Down - many, many steps down
Down - many, many steps down
Down - many, many steps down

The steps weren't all the same height and the distances were probably more by eye. I had to really concentrate here so I didn't trip or slip. There was also another small purification temple in front of the waterfall.

After another 5 minutes of descent, I saw the approx. 25 meter high waterfall.

Really a great place. Plus, it's so far out that I actually had it all to myself and was able to enjoy the spray that was blowing towards me.

Then we went back the same exciting way. And along the way I stopped several times to look at the breathtaking view of the rice fields in this region.

Back at the accommodation we had a delicious Balinese coffee with sugar and a great dinner from the homestay owners' warung.

After dinner there was an extraordinary sunset from my own balcony. In general, the homestay was really incredibly beautiful and I felt very comfortable.

The next morning I booked a silver jewelry workshop and then planned a quiet afternoon with my book. But more on that in the next post.
