Day 32 Armenia - Drive from Goris to Yerevan

已发表: 22.07.2022

After a delicious breakfast, we headed back to Yerevan from Goris. Right at the beginning, we came across a road that was crossed by a ditch on our side that was not covered. Athletic, there is not even a warning sign, let alone a barrier.

On the way, there were fantastic landscapes to admire again, this vastness with its many mountains and valleys, and the frequently changing vegetation are simply indescribably beautiful.

At some point, it was time again for a small car repair attempt, which is simply part of the deal every few kilometers. This time there was something to do with the brakes. When lifting the transporter, the jack immediately worked its way through the asphalt to the sublayer, it will certainly develop into a pothole... Now I know again why you should always put a board or a stone underneath... The next days will show whether my brake repair experiment was successful or whether I still have to completely dismantle the brakes. I actually don't feel like doing any major actions...

At the same time, a fuse for the cooler box and the USB chargers blew. This is now the third replacement part required on a journey of more than 6550 km, in addition to a light bulb for the license plate lighting (replaced in Greece) and a diesel filter (bought in Greece and installed in Turkey). It's slowly getting expensive ;-).

I carried out the repairs at a gas station in a small town about 50 kilometers before Yerevan. The charming thing there were the German-speaking fuel pumps, which showed me the price in euros in addition to safety instructions. Fortunately, they had a currency problem. I wouldn't have felt like paying almost 34,000 euros for the tank filling at a price of 620 euros per liter and just under 55 liters of fuel, and I actually had to pay just under 34,000 DRAM. In our country, they would probably have gotten rid of the fuel pumps, here they will definitely continue to serve for many years.

At some point, we were back in Yerevan. The average hotel prices have increased significantly here since our departure a few days ago (around a factor of 2), possibly because the weekend is approaching? Thanks to my Armenian acquaintances, we found an inexpensive place at the 'White House' hotel. I have already stayed at this hotel in June. There is a nice pool there, and finally, you could go for a relaxing swim.

The day ended with a nice dinner and then sitting together by the pool. There was a strong wind blowing, which made the warmth very pleasant.

Today we covered 241 kilometers.
