When I arrived in Noosa, I was a bit shocked at first, the staff room was more of a dump and instead of sharing it with 8 people as advertised, I was supposed to share the room with 11 other employees. As it turned out, I had ended up in the wrong room and after two more or less sleepless nights, I was allowed to move.
I am much happier with my new home and roommates. We do a lot of activities together and you don't feel alone. What is particularly great is that people from all nationalities come together here, people from Scotland, Canada, Spain, Sweden, England, USA and so on, which makes it super interesting and really forces you to speak English. But I have a German reinforcement in Alicia, she is from Heilbronn but unfortunately she will soon continue to Fraser Island and then to New Zealand, but we have already had a lot of fun together and will enjoy the time together here. They also prepared a great birthday for me with a birthday cake and a birthday card with wishes from all employees. A completely new experience to spend the day at the beach, one that I do not want to miss and that I can only recommend to every winter birthday child :)
Of course there was also a lot of celebrating in and out of my birthday. Here in the blog, I would also like to thank you again for the great birthday video from Germany, I was standing on the streets of Noosa and crying! Such a great surprise! THANK YOU!
Noosa is incredibly beautiful - one of the first encounters with the place was the Coastal Walk in the National Park and ever since then I have been in love. Such beautiful beaches and landscapes. You always find new motives that you have to capture.
Even a shopper's heart could beat faster, but not entirely because of the prices. Noosa is known as a vacation spot for the rich and beautiful, and unfortunately you can feel it in the prices. But I am slowly figuring out where to buy cheaper groceries or where you can get two scoops of ice cream, not for 7 dollars.
As a former employee of the tourist information, I was of course also in here in Noosa and I have to say it is one of the most beautiful ones I have been to so far, maybe I can take a picture inconspicuously ;)
The introduction week started on Monday. To get an overview, you go through all departments, on Monday and Tuesday I am in housekeeping, Wednesday off, Thursday evenings I work at the bar or try to be helpful ;) Friday off and Saturday and Sunday I have training for working at the reception.
I am looking forward to everything new and am curious about the tasks, challenges and experiences that I will gain. I can say that after housekeeping, you know what you have done in these temperatures. 30 rooms with sometimes 16 beds that need to be made, you can break a sweat. But on both days we were a great team and with music and a lot of fun, we managed to finish the work in a pleasant way. And with a working time from 10-14:30, you still have something of the day afterwards and can't complain.
That's how I manage to go jogging at the moment. My favorite route is to Laguna Lookout :) It's mostly uphill, but it's good training and you are rewarded with a great view :) For my dance people up there, there is a wonderful viewing platform and since there were almost no people up there, I couldn't resist dancing a little, super cool in the sun. Every Wednesday I think it's training time :) I miss it and you!
Otherwise, I explore the new surroundings and will soon see what trips you can take from here, and to use the two days off :) We will definitely go to the Australian Zoo, cuddle with kangaroos and koalas (although koalas smell pretty bad :D) Maybe just with the kangaroos!
See you soon and a big hug from Australia :)!
