We also took a day trip to Pompeii from Naples to visit this huuuge excavation. Luckily, it was already off-season in November, so it wasn't crowded and we easily found a free parking space, as the expensive Italian admission fees really dig deep into your wallet. The area of Pompeii is really huge, you can easily spend the whole day exploring the streets, houses, fountains, impressive wall paintings, squares, the large amphitheater, etc., and still haven't seen everything. With wonderful sunshine and warm temperatures, we immersed ourselves in past ancient times and were truly impressed. The excavations of the city buried in 79 AD (due to earthquakes and the eruption of Mount Vesuvius) are still ongoing, just like in Herculaneum. But see for yourself in the photos!
