Another lazy day
Not much to report today. We got up and sat around the camp, took the dogs for a walk before it got too hot and had lunch, egg mayo today. We then went to the beach; the dogs know...

Today was travel day. We started from our camp in Croatia - natch - and briefly travelled through Slovenia - ooh - before entering Italy to travel to Lake Garda - ahh. We experienced a first; we were actually stopped at the border in to Italy. It was on the slip road off the motorway, with a border guard and 2 army bods with automatic weapons causally slung over their shoulders. “Open this door please” he said, about our drivers side sliding door. We opened it, our bread fell out, he picked it up and put it back in the van, took a cursory glance in the van, and waved us on our way. It was a far cry from the cavity search I narrowly avoided entering East Berlin.
It was nice to be back in Italy; we were presented with a fairly typical Tuscany landscape of rolling hills, Cyprus trees and dusty, stone architecture. Oh how we’ve missed those Cyprus trees.
We arrived at our chosen site which just two days before had had plenty of ACSI pitches only to find all the ACSI pitches were full and it only had premiums pitches left at €95 per night. We declined went to the next site where we paid €90. For three nights.
We setup camp and strolled down to the lake. It was beautifully, but the banks by the site were full of reeds, ducks and grebes, but nowhere for Winnie and us to swim. We sacked off the lake and went instead to the pool, where we took it in turns to swim some lengths while the other looked after the dogs and drank beer. This was after us having a “how are we going to live our lives at home” chat where we agreed that some kind of exercise each day was in order, and we should probably start today. So the lengths were our choice today.
Tomorrow is meant to be cloudy so we may go to Sirmione for a look round.
